Nearly 25,000 Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Around 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland found themselves without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, producing wind gusts reaching 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Residents reported giant hailstones as large as seven centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the widespread outages.
Victorian Weather Woes
Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received over five hundred emergency reports across the region, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At the height on Sunday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
