In the final seconds, sheer ecstasy erupted for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández bundled in a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola in a state of despair and handed the temporary Chelsea manager a unforgettable moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane was the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch in class, making the memory of Fernández's pivotal intervention one to warm the 40-year-old in his dotage.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench was the generation's pre-eminent figure, a man with four decades of silverware for football's giants Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match.
